World Famed St. Xavier Church



The biggest Roman Catholic Church located in Nagercoil, the capital of Kanyakumari district, is St. Xavier Church. Saint Xavier is doing the missionary work in the regions of Kanyakumari district. He forestalled an offense of Padagas with the aid of his cross alone and thus protected the people of Venad kingdom from that assault which was appreciated by the emperor Unni Kerala Varma, who closer to the Priest and befriended him then on. 

The emperor has granted some acres of land to Saint Xavier in order to construct Catholic Church in Kottar. There has already a tiny church in that place where St. Xavier’s church constructed at present. Saint Xavier has devoted this divine church to Mother Mary since 1544 AD.   

As per the records, this pilgrimage has been raised in sixteenth century. The church of Mother Mary has modernized and enlarged again in 1865 AD. Again in 1930CE, Saint Xavier church was lift up to the status of a Cathedral. Each year the annual festival is celebrated throughout November to December lasting for 10 days.

Stunning Experience in Udayagiri Fort


    
  This fabulous fort is located at Kanyakumari District in Tamil Nadu. It is about fourteen kilometer from Nagercoil, the capital of this district.  

      During the years 1741 to 1744, the Venad emperor Marthandavarma, this fabulous fort has restructured. This reconstruction work has continued under the control of the Belgian General, named De Lannoy. Previously, he served as the Chief of the Travancore army and also worked at East India Company’s troops were stationed there till the core of the 19th century. Under his empower, he unveiled the creation of guns, mortars and cannon balls.


     
      In the olden epoch, the fort has considered as the strategic significance. Prisoners captured in the campaign in opposition to Tippu were restricted this fort for a short time. Of course, it is said that a brass gun of about 16 feet, elongated bored as a 22 ponder, originate in the fort that could not be detached even for a few yards via great number of inhabitants along with the help of 16 elephants.  

    This fort is surrounded by the small hamlets. The citizens of these hamlets are almost take part their jobs as farmers and also few them involved in doing business. There is large number of Pottery in this tourist spot, which makes as the chief Industry along with a section of the people.

     At present, Forest Department has unveiled Biodiversity Park with the aid of District Administration. On the other hand, the visitors are able to have a glance to go through the deer, ducks, fountains, birds and over 100 varieties of trees inside the fort, which make the charming event to the tourist.

Marvelous Look of Vivekananda Rock Memorial


     
     There are lots and lots tourists spot in Kanyakumari district. Out of these the most famous and excellent spot is Vivekananda Rock Memorial. This efficient architecture placed on the big rock, which is about five hundred meters from the sea shore where three oceans meets together. 



          This spectacular architecture has build by the Vivekananda Rock Memorial Committee in the year 1970. In 1892, Swami Vivekananda went to Shripada Parai at some days in the month of December for deep meditation and enlightenment. He sat on meditation on this spritual rock for two days and then suits a powerful spiritual leader and philosopher all over the world.


   
   This rock is constructed with well-organized architectural styles of Bharat. The rock memorial comprises two main mandapams, they are

Vivekananda Mandapam

Sri Pada Mandapam 


     This tremendous rock is constructed in honour of Vivekananda. And Vivekananda Mandapam divided into four fine parts. They are

Dhyana Mandapam: The meditation Hall along with six adjoining rooms.

Sabha Mandapam: The Assembly Hall that compries Pralim Mandapam, the statue section,
   two rooms, a corridor and an open prakaram surrounding the Sabha Mandapam.

Front Entrance: The steps amid two rooms and a hallway below the steps.
