Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad

The park was established on 26 October 1959. It is located about 16kms from Hyderabad Bus Stand. It is spread across 300 acres of green land. It is one of the biggest zoos in the country. In this park there is safari, history museum and children’s park.

The animals in this park include Indian Rhino, Asiatic Lion, Tiger, Panther, Giraffe, Deer, Chimpanzee from central Africa, Orangutan and yellow baboons. There are many other animals like Zebra, American bison, Indian Cobra, Viper and Crocodiles.

The park is run by the forest department. The Zoo also runs different safari trips daily such as Lion Safari, Tiger Safari, Bear Safari and Butterfly Safari.

Other attraction includes elephant rides and children’s park. Several animals in the zoo were rehabilitated in various deer parks and sanctuaries to restock the depleted population.

Bannerghatta National Park

The park is situated 22 km south of Bangalore. The park functions from 9 am to 5 pm. The right time to visit this place is 9.30 in the morning. It is advisable to avoid Sunday rush. Children are more attracted to this place. There is a good variety of animals to see in zoo. The safari is thrilling and the visitors are allowed to take camera on pay. Lots of deers, lions, bears and tigers can be seen on safari.

Bannerghatta comprises the national park, zoo, children’s park, crocodile farm, Snake Park, prehistoric Animal Park and museum. The best time to visit is the months of November to June. Wild animals like elephant, leopard, jackal, fox, wild pig, sloth beer, spotted deer and the hare are found here.

The park is a unique relocation area for tigers and lions rescued from circuses in India. The National Park is a treasure house of a great variety of flora. The park is open throughout the year.
