The Pisharikkal Bhagavathy temple is an ancient Amman temple that old about more than thousand years and situated in the state of Kerala. This temple is named under the list of 108 Goddesses Durga temples in Kerala state. This temple comprises two main God statues that are Vanadurga and Bhagavathy placed in this temple. Generally, all the devotees used to mention this divine god as “Bhadrakali Amman.” This temple is completely surrounded by divine aura every where.
It is highly believed as Thirumandhamkunnu Bhagavathy Amman, which specified as the famous Durga shrine in Kerala at Malappuram district, dwells in this temple. The core statue in this temple holds the conch and wheel in her hand. Besides this Amman statue, there are Lord Shiva, Lord Ganapathy are worshipped here. The Parasathham offered in this temple are Uthram Pattu and Chakka Ada in the festivals seasons.
During March – April, the annual festival is celebrated in the grand manner namely Meenam. This festival commence on the day of Makayiram and ends at Arattu. ‘Thalappoli’ is the significant festival celebrated in this temple that young girls holds the plate having oil lamp, flowers, turmeric etc on the Atham day of the festival. Some of the other festivals celebrated here are ‘Navarathri’, ‘Karthika’ day in the month of ‘Vrischikam’ and ‘Makara Chowwa.’
This temple is exactly located near the government hospital at Chalakudy that located between Angamaly and Thrissur, which is fifty kilometers from Ernakulam and twenty five kilometers from Cochin International airport. The temple opens for dharshan from 4 am to 5 pm.
