Enjoy the Abbey falls in Karnataka

The Abbey Falls is located at a distance of 10 km from Madikeri town. This has been a favorite spot for tourists since time past. It is located on the midst of lush green coffee plantation and spice estates. The roar of the cascading falls can be heard from the road. British called Abbey water falls as Jessy water falls in memory of Jessy, the daughter of Madikeri’s first chaplain.

The distance of the falls from the near by places are

•  Madikeri: 10km
•  Mysore: 130km
•  Bangalore: 270km
•  Mangalore: 136km

The nearest airport to this place is at Mangalore and the nearest railway station is at Mysore. You can reach the falls by road by going down the midst of coffee estate. A path through coffee and cardamom plantations leads to the waterfalls. During the monsoon season, the Abbey finds abundant seasonal rains with water plunging down the mountain slope at enormous speed. The scenic locales around the Abbe falls make for an ideal picnic destination.

The hanging bridge has now been built across the gorge here offering a good view of the falls. The best time to visit here is early winter. Cars can reach the entrance of the falls from where a down hill walk of 500 meters on slightly paved steps takes one to the waterfalls.

You can be here to enjoy the nature. Do contact travel guide for safe travel.
