Sigiriya Rock Fortress Sri Lanka

Sigiriya is the splendid place and well known as ‘Lion Rock’ and stands efficiently above the ever green forest. It is one of best tourist spots in Sri Lanka that every year the number of visitors goes on increasing.

This has been build by King Kasyapa the son of King Dhatusena, a palace companion. As legend goes, King Dhatusena has overthrown and walled in, energetic by Kasyapa in 473 AD. Mogallana, Dhatusena’s son by the right queen fled to India the vowing payback. Kasyapa has feared about an invasion built this impregnable fortress at Sigiriya.

When the assault came to final in the year 491, the Kasyapa has rod out to conflict in the war done with elephants. In the hard work to escape his brother, Kasyapa has chosen the wrong way when the elephant got stuck in the mud. But his soldiers have thought that Kasyapa has retreating fled abandoning him, and he took his own life.

Water Gardens:
The wonderfully and elaborately landscaped water gardens enfold a combined network of subversive water distribution organization that affords water to the Royal baths, the several petite mooted islands and fountains, some fountains still work at some stage in the rainy season and a splendid view of the Gardens could be had from halfway up the rock.

Frescoes: The Sigiriya Damsels:
About halfway up the pitch is a sheltered veranda of frescoes painted on the sheer stun face. The ‘Heavenly Maidens’ are comparable in technique to the paintings of Ajanta in India. A number of them are motionless in amazingly good stipulation. Only 22 out of an anticipated five hundred pictures now stay behind. Flash photography is not permitted at this position. The Mirror Wall with Graffiti and Lion Platform are the other best location in this tourist spot.
