Padmanabhaswamy temple



Shree Padmanabhaswamy temple is a Hindu holy place keen to Lord Vishnu located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The place of pilgrimage is at present run by a trust headed by the royal family of Travancore. The temple is named under the list of 108 Divya Desams, which prime centers of worship of the divinity in Vaishnavism. The temple is constructed in the Dravidian manner of structural design, which glorified in the Divya Prabandha, the Tamil prose tenet of Tamil Alvar saints.

The shrine is an imitation of the eminent Sri Adikesavaperumal Temple at Thiruvattar. Sri Padmanabhaswamy sanctuary affords its name to Kerala’s state capital Thiruvananthapuram in the following manner ‘Thiru’ ‘Anantha’ ‘Puram’ means Sacred Abode of Lord Anantha Padmanabha.  This temple is named under the wealthiest temple in India. 


Padmanabhaswamy is preserved as the "Anantha-sayanam" pose at this historic temple. The major festivals celebrated in this temple are Navaratri. The assets of this holy place belong to Lord Padmanabhaswamy, which controlled by a trust and maintained by the Royal family.  But recently, as per the court order the assets are under the control of Kerala state government.  

On some of the day on June 2011, the Supreme Court orders the authorities to unveil the secret chambers in the temple. The temple comprises six vaults in total and named from A to F. the A and B vaults are not opened for many years but the vaults C and F have been opened some periods of time.
    

The vaults in the temple comprise gold, jewels, 18th century Napoleonic era coins, three-and-a-half feet tall gold idol of Mahavishnu studded along with rubies and emeralds, traditional attire for titivate the deity in the form of 16-part gold anki weighing almost 30 kilograms (66 lb) jointly with gold coconut shells, one studded with rubies and emerald, and the list goes on. 

The estimated wealth of this temple has been calculated around 1.2 trillion (US$23.94 billion) this implies the richest temple in this globe.
